A community where “Hope, Wellness and Recovery for Everyone” is possible is a good start to a healthy Stark County.
CLAS Standards
StarkMHAR has a focus on enabling a system of care that is Culturally and Linguistically Competent because it generates better outcomes and avoids inappropriately and/or inadequately serving Stark County’s underserved populations. The National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services in Health and Health Care (the National CLAS Standards) are intended to advance health equity, improve quality and help eliminate health care disparities by providing a blueprint for individuals and health and health care organizations to implement culturally and linguistically appropriate services. Stark County Cultural Competence Committee (SC3C)
Stark County Cultural Competence Learning Community & Committee (SC3C) has been created as a forum to address the cultural and linguistic competence of the system partners, provider agencies, and the community at large. This committee meets bimonthly to address health disparities and access to care of Stark County’s underserved populations. Numerous community partners and members, especially those with lived experience, provide integral information as to the needs of various underserved communities (African American, Latinx/Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, Veterans, etc.) and strategizes services that are/would be effective bridging gaps in access to care and quality of service delivery.
The SC3C-HR subcommittee was created to have a specialized focus in diverse practices for HR efforts to build and sustain a more inclusive behavioral health workforce. This subcommittee’s members are HR leaders from various funded provider agencies and system partners. They meet bimonthly to discuss human resource-related topics, such as recruitment, retainment, and engagement, policy reviews, and provide additional CLC consultation.
