Homeless Hotline 330-452-4363

A department of the Stark County Mental Health & Addiction Recovery, the Stark County Homeless Hotline operates 24 hours per day, referring callers to appropriate shelters and other programs for the homeless or those at risk of homelessness after conducting an initial assessment interview. The Hotline maintains a current listing of available shelter beds throughout Stark County and works with mental health agencies, hospitals, law enforcement, alcohol and drug treatment centers and the courts to assist clients in need of shelter, homeless prevention services or other social service supports.

The Stark County Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) is a data collection system utilizing a single point-of-entry for clients in need of emergency shelter or other homeless services. The HMIS assigns each case a number, which can be used to access various services at different locations throughout Stark County. Each Continuum of Care is required to operate an HMIS system by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for reporting demographic and outcomes data for all local, state and federal grants.

Homeless Services Collaborative

StarkMHAR is a member of the Homeless Services Collaborative, a group of local agencies that provide direct service to homeless clients and others who have an interest in addressing homelessness. Its focus is to end homelessness by identifying gaps in the homeless system and devising solutions to eliminate those gaps and to improve service delivery. The Collaborative coordinates the Point-In-Time Count each year and also organizes and sponsors the annual Project Homeless Connect event. General and Committee meetings are held monthly, offering members opportunities for networking and training.
