The goal of this annual event is to disseminate information and educate the community and professionals about opiates, to bring new knowledge to Stark County for prevention, treatment, and recovery.

Current Symposium Highlights: 

Allison SharerMorning Keynote: “Zero-Tolerance” to “Second Chance” – Allison Sharer, OCPS II, Wingspan Training, LLC President

Ms. Sharer has worked in the prevention field since 1983.  Her experience includes work within youth-led prevention, community-based prevention, environmental prevention and drug-free workplace. Allison serves as a trainer for employee and supervisor Drug Free Workplace education.  She provides consultation to prevention agencies for special projects, such as strategic planning for agencies and coalitions including use of the Strategic Prevention Framework, content review of the Know! Parent Tips for Drug Free Action Alliance.  She has also provided services such as coordination of Ohio’s AoD Workforce Resource Project, coordination of the Franklin County Prevention Professional Development Institute and consultation with the Butler County Alcohol and Drug Services Board.  Allison also authored marijuana curriculum for use in the Drug Free Workplace programs.  Allison is the past-president of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Association of Ohio (ADAPAO), and also served on the former Ohio Credentialing Board as chair of the Prevention Committee. She represented Ohio for three years to the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium.

Who should attend:

Open to all area medical professionals, health and human service providers, school staff, community leaders, law and criminal justice professionals, parents and community members. It takes all of us working together to tackle Stark County’s public health epidemic.

Location and Cost:

  • Location: First Christian Church; 6900 Market Avenue N, Canton, Ohio 44721.  Parking Lot B.
  • Cost: $20.00 per person will cover registration, refreshments, lunch, snacks, and CEUs. PayPal is the preferred method of payment.
  • Education credits: CEUs pending for applicable sessions.
