STARK COUNTY DRUG TAKE BACK DAY IS SEPTEMBER 18

Stark County, OH (September 16, 2021) – Stark County Mental Health & Addiction Recovery, Drug Free Stark County, the Opiate & Addiction Task Force of Stark County, and the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Stark County Police Chiefs’ Association, are pleased to sponsor Drug Take Back Day on September 18 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (The Jackson Township location ONLY will run 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.) Fourteen locations throughout the county will be staffed with officers and volunteers collecting expired, unwanted and/or unused medications for safe disposal. Prescriptions as well as over-the-counter medications will be accepted.

In addition to encouraging safe disposal, this event is an important part of drug misuse prevention. For example, it is estimated that 8 of 10 teens who misuse prescription drugs get them from friends or relatives – making it crucial to regularly clean out cabinets and cupboards to help eliminate the risk of misuse. This program is completely anonymous and no questions will be asked; if bringing prescription drug bottles blacking out any personal information is desired. Solid medications can be mixed and in any container that is tightly sealed (original packaging is not necessary). Veterinary medications, liquids, and sharps (must be safely presented) are also accepted. No identification is needed for any drop off.
