Stark County Mental Health & Addiction Recovery understands the benefit of support groups. Recently there has been an increasing awareness of the role that mental health and alcohol and drug support groups play in recovery from mental illnesses and substance abuse. For this reason, StarkMHAR would like to provide the following information to those looking for support through a support group. Please use contact information to confirm meeting time.

Hope United
Hope United’s faith-based support groups, The Well and Loving with Grace, help family members currently suffering from the addiction crisis.

  • The Well is a support group for families who have lost someone to addiction. The traditional support group meets the first and third Wednesdays of month, 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Crossview Church 737 George Washington Blvd., Akron. The counselor-informed support group meets twice a month on Tuesdays- the opposite weeks of the traditional support group- from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at High Mill Church of the Resurrection, 1920 Schneider St. NE, Canton.   • Love Bears All provides bears for children who lose a parent to addiction as well as support for children who have been affected by the opiate epidemic. For info, call Laura at 330-697-7885.
  • Everlasting Recovery is a faith-based recovery group meeting that uses a program called Freedom from Addiction. The group meets every Thursday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at High Mill Church of the Resurrection, 1920 Schneider St. NE, Canton.
