Stark County’s Drug Take Back Day

Stark County Mental Health & Addiction Recovery, Drug Free Stark County, the Opiate Task Force of Stark County and the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Stark County Police Chiefs’ Association, are pleased to sponsor this collection day for Stark County residents to dispose of their expired, unused or unwanted prescription medications safely. Police officials will be on-site to collect the meds and dispose of them without harming the environment. This program is completely anonymous and no questions will be asked and no identification is needed. All meds will be accepted.

Since 2010, 30,785* pounds of unneeded or expired medication, as well as the safe disposal of used needles and other sharps, has been collected during Stark County’s Drug Take Back Days. Through 2014, this successful collaboration was held on the national Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Drug Take Back Day in the fall and spring each year. In 2015, this effort became all local with help from Stark County Mental Health & Addiction Recovery, Drug Free Stark County, Stark County Sheriff’s Office, Tri-County Waste Management District, Stark County Police Chiefs’ Association, Mercy and Aultman Hospitals. Plans are to hold this event annually in the fall.

*We have collected an additional 30,254 pounds of medication between May 2013 to end of year 2018 in permanent drug collection boxes »
