Who should attend: Parent Peer Support Specialist Training is for an individual with lived experience as the primary caregiver or parent of a child or children for whom they have navigated at least 2 child serving systems (mental health, substance use, developmental disability, physical health, juvenile justice, child protective services, education), on behalf of their child/children struggling with emotional, behavioral, mental health, or substance use challenges.

How to become a Parent Peer Specialist: Individuals must complete the required 44 hours of training and document their experience as a parent of a child who was served in the System of Care and pass the examination to receive a NAMI Certificate of Completion for Parent Peer Support

A Parent Peer Support Specialist (PPSS) has:

• Lived experience navigating systems of care in Ohio for at least one year.
• Met the educational criteria for certification.
• Passed the test.

Individuals must complete the Parent Peer Support Training Application in order to be considered for this training.  This application must be received by March 15, 2021 in order to attend the training. Click here for the link to the application: Parent Peer Support Specialist Application
