Day 1: An Introduction to DBT Group Skills – May 28, 2020
About the training: This full-day, highly interactive and experiential workshop is designed to introduce DBT skills or for those who have familiarity with DBT skills but are interested in learning new creative, experiential methods to teach DBT skills. Through the use of multi-media, experiential exercises, role plays and video, the four skills modules in DBT group skills training (e.g., mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness) will be taught. Participants will also learn how to structure a DBT group and orient clients to treatment.
Day 2: Advanced DBT Group Skills – May 29, 2020
About the training: This one-day workshop is recommended for those who have attended Part 1: An Introduction to DBT Group Skills Training or for those who are interested in advancing their knowledge of the DBT skills presented in the new updated DBT skills manual. The four modules of DBT group skills training taught in Part 1 will be expanded upon. The new DBT skills from the second edition manual, such as the Addiction Skills, TIPS, Cope Ahead, Check the Facts, Problem Solving, and STOP will be introduced. Participants will also learn how to label group interfering behaviors in clients and treat these behaviors using DBT skills.
Day 3: An Introduction to DBT Individual Treatment – June 30, 2020
About the training: This one day workshop is designed to be an introduction to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and its application to treating individuals diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Participants will become familiar with the theoretical foundations that underlie DBT treatment. In addition, the stages of DBT treatment and the hierarchy of treatment targets designed to structure therapy with clients will be discussed. Several DBT individual treatment strategies will be taught and practiced, including diary cards, validation, behavior chain analysis, and solution analysis. Through the use of clinical case examples, video-taped client-therapist interactions, and experiential exercises participants will become familiar with the techniques and strategies used in DBT individual therapy.

Parking – Parking located off of Tuscarawas Avenue, REM Parking. $7.00 fee.
Cost – This is a free training. Lunch will be at the discretion of the attendee.
Education credits – 6.0 CEUs upon completion of each day.
